Andy - some very good points ... I don't think many people actually 'clip' pictures from the net to pritn them out, its more for general online use. A lot of people won't see anything wrong with it, in a similar way to photocopying an article in a magazine, copying an audio CD or a piece of computer software. I fully agree with you about the permission of the orginator should be sort and acknowledged, I've been spending a lot of time recently looking for items to use on my web site from open source developers and even though this stuff is free to use they still ask, and rightly so, for an acknowledgement to for efforts ...

Sorry about belated attempt at clarification regarding the original topic of this thread and afraid its not that helpful. But at least we won't charge a fee (this time) ;D. Kevin thinks, though its not strictly his field, that any picture automatically has copyright for the photographer whether claimed or not. Therefore, legally, they should not be copied without permission. A real problem would only arise if they were copied and then used for financial gain. Practically however, even in this case, it is impossible to stop and the legal costs of getting redress are prohibitive for an individual. Just keep the quality such that printing off is not satisfactory. Copying an audio CD or a piece of computer software without permission is illegal. (Doesn't mean it doesn't happen though ). Jenny

Jenny I seem to recall the penalty for pirating music some time ago was to give you a 'criminal record' (something like 'Best of Des O'Connor') and then make you listen to it. David

Hi, Well I have managed to get some photographs on to Picasa but can someone advise me what I now need to do to allow others access to these photographs. I Know Picasa has various help pages but it would take ages to wade through them so if anyone here is using Picasa your help would be appreciated.
Thank you

I Know Picasa has various help pages but it would take ages to wade through them so if anyone here is using Picasa your help would be appreciated. Thank you Hi Duncan, Go into Picasa and open the Web Albums page. Then put mouse pointer on the address in the box at top left (mine says picasaweb.google.co./home), right click and hit 'copy'. Then paste it into a post on this Forum. It should show (once you've posted it) as a hyperlink. Double-clicking on it will open your Web Albums. We look forward to seeing your photos!! David

David, Thanks for that, I will have a go at this tomorrow, the pictures are of a walk previously covered by another member earlier this year but it will also be an opportunity for me to check the pictures are accessable. Thanks

Thank you Duncan, the easiest way to allow people to see your photos on picasa is to make sure that all of the albums that you upload are made 'public' rather than 'private, that way you can just let people know the name of your picasa page and then they can view your photo's at their leisure! You can find all mine at ... picasaweb.google.co.uk/mymountainphotos I've even started geo-tagging the photos so you can view them with google earth! Gary

Just a line to thank you all for the advice about posting photographs on the web. Picasa is certainly straight forward and suprisingly free.
