Hi folks
Can anyone recommend a good host? I have digitals of all my walks since I started my first Wainwright round. I would like to start a site up myself. I've used the free Tripod host before, but I was not impressed. If I want to have lots of images available, what type and size of hosting should I be looking at?

How much web space should I be looking at? When I started out Sean McMahon (Striding Edge) recommended that I took out the unlimited package which after the 3 month trial cost about £70.00 for a two year package. I usually upload something every day so it suits me. I've never had any problems at all with them. Dave

Mick, I can back up Dave's comments here, I'm using the same package on Streamline, and it works prefectly well for me, never had problems uploading stuff to the server and there full access for managing your files etc. It does sound expensive at first but when you compare with some of the other offers around its not bad. The one point I really like is that you don't have to have any adverts on your site, what goes on and how it is displayed etc is totally up to you!

Mick I use Streamline as well although I have only gone for the £23.99 package. Having said that it is good enough for what I need!

Mick, Check out www.me2uweb.com/unix.htm who have a special offer on at the moment £50 plus VAT for two years for their Unix Bronze web-hosting package. I have used them a lot in the past and they have never let me down, even to the point that I recommend them to clients at work now and no I am not on commission Dik

heartinternet.co.uk do £2.49 a month and give you loads of web space 5,000 mb more than enough, domain names are the cheapest around also.

Alan - it all looks confusing when you first start but its not that difficult, I found Streamline not to bad, have a look at this web site, it might give you some idea's ... www.build-your-website.co.uk/. Another option could be to get a 'free' blog or web site through MSN or Google they are very easy to step up and use ... Gary
