Thought I'd look at ImageShack (to check on the configuration of an URL) and noticed a layout change. I tried copying the 'Direct link to image' section (not the 'Hotlink for Forums' I had always used before), and pasted that into my profile and, as you can see, it worked.

Was it worth it, I hear you ask! ::)

David,

I can see your avatar so something seems to have worked :D

This avatar thing has got me totally confused :-/ why are some avatars from ImageShack, such as mine, OK when others have gone missing? Don't think I'll try changing mine again for a bit.

Jenny

PS Started this reply before David's last post :(

David , sorry I didn't respond sooner , getting ready to go away. Firist Derbyshire, to get a motor mover fitted to the van and then up to the Lakes and meeting up with Lindsay on Tuesday. I see that Mick gave you instructions. Actually I downloaded a Photobucket programme that was quite easy to follow and it was one of these drag a file from your pictures and drop it in the photobucket section and away you went following the ' get code ' option. My problem at first was not selecting the direct link. It would seem that now Image shack also you now select direct link.
Nice photo though David . You'll get recognised now when out on the fells ;D

At least he blank expression has gone :D ;)

Strange problems. I've never encounted any before unless a message board has been at fault itself.

See you next weekend perhaps?

Mick,

I'll be there. Had thought of a week in Blackpool, but decided instead for a week in the Lakes ;).

I'll be there for the Exhibition preview, Place Fell walk and lecture - so, see you there!

David

Did you get a page that looked like this when you "double-clicked " thr required image?

The links you require can be copied and pasted from the "Share this image" area. Direct Link for Avatar use and IMG Code for inserting into thread using the insert image icon above. (deleting the two extra [IMG]'s after inserting between the [IMG][IMG] that appears in the text on the thread).

To be honest I've not tried Image Shack.

Mick,

I was on a similar screen, but it didn't have the box you show with 'Direct' etc. I wonder how anyone like me (not a tekky) is supposed to know that you have to delete bits of the address before copying it? That is my point - that it is not user-friendly. Still, as Image Shack is now working (for me), I'll stick with it. Really appreciate your help and perhaps still I might get to grips with Photo Bucket.

Gareth, did you have to do anything different as David and I had to. It seems that the direct link is now the best option on both Image shack and Photobucket.

You know, he's away from the forum for months and now you can't get rid of that' new look ' from the screen ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

David, the jury is out for me at present about photobucket, however, one advantage is quicker access as I now have a link icon on my desk top. I will play about with it for a while I think but I did find it easy to use. I wonder if you accessed the same version as me ???
