The fleeting hour of life of those who love the hills is quickly spent, but the hills are eternal, always there will be the lonely ridge, the dancing beck, the silent forest, the exhilaration of the summits. These are for the seeking and those who seek and find while there is still time will be blessed both in mind & body. AW- Book 7 The Western Fells. |

Is it very similar to Image Shack then?

| No David
You upload the image and it's stored temporarily on the server. It is not permanent - it's great for posting isolated images onto forums, where you don't want to store lots of images. I have found that Photo Shack, Flickr and Photo Bucket all to be laborious and slow and frankly a little unreliable. |
|
I'm puzzled. I use Image Shack only to create a temporary URL for inserting a photo into a post. I don't have any photos stored there (as far as I'm aware). My experience has been that it takes only a minute or so to do so and I've never had any problems.

Stick to whatever works best for you.
Flickr has always worked fine for me. I can take a photo, upload to Flickr, and have it on the forum, all in 30 seconds - never fails.

Simon,
No, I don't have an account. I simply go to the website and create a one=off URL. No strings attached.

Look me up on www.artbyraybradshaw.comI like to paint people enjoying the outdoors in and around the English Countryside. Mainly the Lakes and the Dales. More recently the urban scene is included. I would like to think that if AW was alive today, if he didn't appreciate my talent, he would at least get my humour. |

I've used Picasa in the past by right clicking on the image to be uploaded, going to properties and copied and pasted the addess between the [img] things but it won't work anymore.

Help needed. I am new to this, and need to know the very basic steps. When I bring up lookpic there is an empty box with upload your image typed below. When I click on browse I can bring up the photos I have stored, and highlight the one I want but with the pictures window still there, it won't let me type anything in the blank box. And if I can upload the picture where will it be stored so I can put in on a forum message. I also don't know how to add it to a forum message. Help from the experts would be gratefully received. Best wishes Richard

Despite my best efforts and the advice of people on the forum I am still unable to put any photos on a message. I can bring up my photos in My pictures when I use the browse function on the message window. I can highlight individual pictures and get cut and copy when right clicking on them, but not paste. It doesn't work trying to drag pictures into a message. Also when my pictures window is open it stops me inserting the cursor on the message window. For those who can do it, is the first thing you have to do to bring up the message window by clicking post reply, and then by some magical means, that seems quite beyond me, to insert somehow the photo(s). Getting a bit desperate now and on the point of giving it up altogether. Best wishes Richard

This is slightly different, but members might like to know of it. If you want to send several photos (up to 100Mb) in a folder, zip the folder (7zip is good) and then use www.senduit.com. Upload the zipped folder (unfortunately it can take many minutes depending on the size) decide how long you want the link to be available (uo to 2 weeks) and when the code shows up paste that code into an email or whatever. The recipient needs then to unzip the folder. Passwords can be used if wanted. Inividual files can also be sent this way, of course, but in both cases the link is temporary, decided by the sender.

Ooops! Sorry, the life of the link in Senduit is only up to 1 week. Try this link: http://senduit.com/b59b5c When the senduit page loads, choose to save the file and then open it in your usual way. Members may keep this rare archive photo without payment!!! NB: you have one week from to 2:25 Tues 29 June to get it.
