The Uldale Fells post Latrigg 28 April 2012
« Thread Started on Apr 30, 2012, 7:43am »

Following the Light the Wainwrights ceremony on Latrigg and fortified by Corn Flakes, bacon rolls and sausage rolls at kevin and Jenny Whalley's an infamous five took the opportunity of a dry, but cold morning to drive a couple of cars to Longlands and have a walk over the Uldale Fells to the north of Skiddaw.

I warn you that Lesley, after much shall I shall I not, decided to make up one of the five so there will no doubt be much time spent viewing the pictures of this trip so whilst we await the main feature from our Society photographer of the year here is the 'B' picture.

Frank.

Thanks for posting frank,

and also for leading this walk; that area seems to have a character of it's own..

I must let others know that we finished the walk about 12.15pm..and that I mentioned to Frank that it was still early, to which he suggested we did another walk :o :o ;D..and I know he meant it!!
However having abandoned Sharon in the Travel Lodge at Cockermouth at 2am , I thought it prudent to earn some Brownie points and try to track her down. I found her in Keswick outside " Love The Lakes"

Thanks for the photos Frank. You should ask for a new category in the photo competition - self-portraits.

Very lucky that we didn't have yesterday's weather on Saturday.

very true John,

I was watching the rain pour down in a wet Warwickshire thinking the same,

Thanks for that post, Frank.

I did a very similar circuit in November 2010, the same fells in the same order. The only real difference is that I parked at Over Water and used AW's ascent route of Great Cockup from Orthwaite.

Over Water and the Uldale Fells are definitely worth visiting. They make an interesting change from Lakeland's more famous places.

The fleeting hour of life of those who love the hills is quickly spent, but the hills are eternal, always there will be the lonely ridge, the dancing beck, the silent forest, the exhilaration of the summits. These are for the seeking and those who seek and find while there is still time will be blessed both in mind & body. AW- Book 7 The Western Fells.

Just love that area. I would have enjoyed that company but sadly not able to be with you this time.

Look me up on www.artbyraybradshaw.com
I like to paint people enjoying the outdoors in and around the English Countryside. Mainly the Lakes and the Dales. More recently the urban scene is included. I would like to think that if AW was alive today, if he didn't appreciate my talent, he would at least get my humour.

Sorry I couldn't join you - might have been able to keep Kevin under control ;D The things he gets up to when I'm not around ::)

It does look a bit cold and windy, but a good walk in good company.

By the way Frank if you want to see that photo I was telling you about - cracking, dried up mud on High Tove - you'll find it in my Thread 'Walks in Summer, 24-30 March' http://wainwright.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=talk&action=display&thread=9016 ;)

Always a nice gentle round that one Frank.

Meal Fell always strikes me as a most appropriate venue for one's repast ;)
