Two noteworthy successes yesterday for my Wainwright Journal.
I trip up Whin Rigg and Illgill Head to complete the Southern Fells Bk Four (only two Northerns and eleven Westerns to go now). And second a detour to Irton Pike which is the first of the Outlying Fells I have ever been up.
Not the best of days weatherwise with very strong winds.
Just a few pictures then.
Frank.

Its a good walk that along the top of the screes, hope you didn't get too near the edge in yesterday's strong winds.

The fleeting hour of life of those who love the hills is quickly spent, but the hills are eternal, always there will be the lonely ridge, the dancing beck, the silent forest, the exhilaration of the summits. These are for the seeking and those who seek and find while there is still time will be blessed both in mind & body. AW- Book 7 The Western Fells. |

Another good one Frank.
I used the same start point a few years back, but returned via Burnmoor Tarn and Miterdale, which makes an interesting round trip.

Good walk. Am glad you did not take on the shoreline path! A nightmare.
