 Two more walks
« Thread Started on May 22, 2011, 3:40pm »

I met up with Martin and Claire last Saturday for a DA of Rossett pike then onto Esk pike and Bowfell it was a bit of a wet day to say the least and this Saturday I got the bus to Coniston for a walk up Dow crag via the South rake then onto COM , Brim fell , Swirl hows ,Great carrs and back down Wet side edge then down Little Langdale to Skelwith , it started raining very heavy by the time I got to Slaters bridge so I was quite happy that I did all the tops in the dry

a great selection of photos Andy, we still have the Coniston Fells to do yet and these pics will help us plan our future routes. We are thinking to do the reverse of your Bow Fell, Esk Pike Rossett Pike route.
thanks for the references :)

There seems to be a lot of murky weather about at the moment :'( Nevertheless a couple of good walks, and glad you got the tops in the dry on the second one.

Thanks for photo of Pike de Bield, will be my last BB (Pillar Rock excepted), good to have a picture of it, hope to get it done over the summer.

Was that one strung out party on the band, given the weather, a surprising number of walkers?

The fleeting hour of life of those who love the hills is quickly spent, but the hills are eternal, always there will be the lonely ridge, the dancing beck, the silent forest, the exhilaration of the summits. These are for the seeking and those who seek and find while there is still time will be blessed both in mind & body. AW- Book 7 The Western Fells.

Hi Jennifer and Stephen
Thanks for you comments
If you do Bowfell first give the climbers traverse a go it's a great route always quiet .

Hi Jenny
I remember doing P de B with Martin in the mist and rain we nearly walked past it but if the weather is OK you wont have any problems
The weather has certainly changed for the worse had some cold wet walks recently ;D

Thanks
Andy

Great photos, Andy. A 'classic' of Martin on The Great Slab. Very atmospheric on the Coniston Fells!

Thanks for posting those Andy - was good to get some views from Bowfell for the first time in four visits. Still waiting to see the view from Esk Pike though.
