Just come across an AW book which I have never heard of before. It's a small paperback I've just bought from a charity shop, called " Seven Favourite Fellwalks", published by Michael Joseph in 1992. Mine is a 1995 edition.
Anyone know anything about this publication?

Lindsay

According to an article in Wikipedia, this book is a compilation of walks from other Wainwright works and not a new book.

Could it be seven of the walks from Fellwalking with Wainwright?

I believe it was a freebie given to Rohan customers. A friend of mine somehow managed to end up with two copies so gave me one.

I'd completely forgotten that I also had "Old Roads of Eastern Lakeland"

Not sure about Rohan, but I definitely remember seeing it being given as a freebie if you bought the "K shoes" Wainwright edition walking boots in the Kendal K outlet shop in the nineties (?).

There's nothing new in it - but it's a quirky collector's item.

Cheers, Al.

That's an interesting little book and shows the extent to which AW's eyesight had deteriorated in his later years.

Thanks for all the comments and observations,

It does have one walk from each PG. I have now found a few copies on Amazon for next to nothing so my £2.50 was about right,

No Don, I can't afford to retire again on it's value ;D

This was the comment from "The Oracle" i.e Miss Dereham who was AW's editor and Director at Michael Josph.

From what I can remember, it was a promotional paperback we produced specifically for a company or magazine. It was never an official publication but would certainly be a collector’s item.

Thanks John,

I'll stick it on the shelf and let it gather dust for a few more years,

Lindsay :)
