this was a while back now, but as I live at the foot of it I thought it would be great to use as a stamina builder. I must have walked up and over this around 40 times now, and it never gets boring.

a gorgeous view in every direction

and a big thanks to my walking partner for the many countless days, Pip.

These bring back memories, I used to live up there. Pendle Hill was my first 'serious' walk

Kevin was brought up in Nelson, so very familiar with Pendle, and we still visit the area regularly. Have been up a few times and a group of us did an unofficial Society walk there a couple of years ago, was much enjoyed, especially by those who hadn't been before

Oh, I know Nelson very well. I used to work with Pendle Youth Orchestra, and the rehearsals were held in Nelson. I also taught in N&C college for a bit. How is the place these days?

That's a difficult one. The are trying to brighten it up, have semi pedestriansed the centre, but partly made it a car park which you can drive through sort of! They've erected a large shuttle as a centre piece and it all looks quite attractive but, like so many places, more shops are closing down than opening and away from the centre it looks a bit sad.

I agree Jenny, I live in Fence, just outside Nelson, it has become a collection of pound shops, takeaways and mosques, such a shame!

Hi Rambler,
Yes as Jenny has said we had an unofficial meet there a while back which went well despite bad weather on the top and little visibility. The cafe at the car park does a mean egg and bacon " barm ".
.another thing I discovered in that area is that not all motorway services are the same. Had to stop at the one on the M65 last winter and was most surprised that a baguette and a coffee came to just over £2..in fact the ham baguette was just £1 AND edible
Thanks for posting,
lindsay

Hi Rambler
I must admit thinking I must climb Pendle one day as I see it every time we drive up to the Lakes or the Dales ,only drawback of course being that it's in Lancashire

Ooooh Nick, let's not bring up that War of the Roses thing LOL especially when Lancashire won!! We just seem to be lacking these days in the cricket wins with you guys
it's a beautiful walk any time of the year, the views are spectacular after snow as the land lay is quite unusual, I can't wait to have a winter wander over Pendle very soon, would be great to see a few of you guys up there one day, just watch out for a tri coloured Jack Russell and a guy dressed in green.......I don't need much excuse for a chinwag!

I thought the Tudors were all Welsh anyway
Seriously,it's one I'm thinking about for a New Years Day wander and ,fingers crossed the weather can't be as bad as this year on Penyghent with horizontal gale force rain .That was a good day out as they say especially with the all day breakfast in the Penyghent cafe.

Well the weather wasn't too promising anywhere really so we just had a local wander up Ilkley Moor (with hat) to wade through the bogs and the "improved "footpaths which were underwater. Good test of sealskinz socks.
I still have Pendle on the to do list but I will wait for summer or dry conditions whichever comes first.
